Empanadas
Empanadas
1 kg of flour
1 cold beer
0.5 kg of vegetable shortening (melted)
0.5 cup of sugar
1 jar of jam/marmalade
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
1. In a small bowl, mix the flour and ½ cup of sugar 2. Use your fist to make a hollow in the center 3. Simultaneously pour the beer and the shortening into the hollow 4. Mix with your hands until it turns into a malleable paste 5. Allow the dough to rest for a ½ hour 6. On a flat floured surface, roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Cut out circles that are about 12 cm. in diameter 7. Fill the circles with a spoonful or two of jam. 8. Fold the circles in half and seal by pressing the borders together with a fork 9. Put your empanadas on a greased tray and bake at 350F until they are golden brown 10. Once they are done, dust them with cinnamon and sugar and let them cool
